Since our first visit to several parts of Asia we haven’t been able to turn our eyes from those who have ended up on the edge of society. Labelled as outcasts.

Though it’s impossible for us to change it all, we can, however, be a drop in the ocean for some and give them hope and a better perspective on life.

In the battle for survival, it is first and foremost about ‘being’ or ‘no longer being’. The basics need to be changed first. After that we would like to fill the needs from individual, by providing small yet practical aid.

We do dare to dream, to look forward. We would like to combine the placements of toilets, a water pump and the provision of toothbrushes with ‘basic self-care and hygiene education.

In all of this we understand the need of needing to work together with local partners, so the needs to the local population can be addressed and met. This is why a partnership with local partners is extremely crucial.

SMA changes people’s circumstances by giving them a renewed and lasting perspective.
